I love a good warming soup for lunch in the winter with a slice of gluten free bread so I decided to do a brief blog about some of my favourites so far! Please feel free to comment with any of your faves to add to the list!

Firstly I would just like to shout out that soup can contain wheat and gluten so please please watch out and make sure that you only enjoy your soup with gluten free bread/no croutons.

  1. Tesco Finest Soup. I chose the mushroom soup for my trial and was pleasantly surprised. I say this because I tried the standard Tesco option for soup and it really is not worth saying anything about on this blog. My advice is avoid this thick yet bland soup and step up to the “finest” selection Tesco offers. The mushroom soup smelled divine and people in the office kept asking me what I was tucking into. It was smooth in texture and yet ever so tasty. Not entirely all that filling but then if you have a couple of slices of gluten free bread with it, does that really matter? I gave this one a 7/10.

  2. Covent Garden Soup. I chose the slow roast tomato for my trial and I really enjoyed it. Usually tomato soup is my staple poorly day lunch – there is something about a good tomato soup that makes you feel instantly better. Like a hug in a carton. I got this soup In Tesco when it was dropped down to £1.00. Which is a bargain for a soup which lasts me two days of lunch! The slow roasted tomato really helped the soup taste almost Mediterranean, with added basil. I gave this one a 8/10.

  3. Marks an Spencer soup. This is my favourite lunch time soup at the moment based on price, quantity and flavour. I chose the chicken, mushroom and rice for my trial which I have to say is one of my favourites. Its so filling that half a pot without any bread lasts me for most of the day without having to tuck into my snack drawer…and that says a lot. Marks and Spencer give you a decent portion of rice chicken and mushroom chunks in this soup! They also have a great healthy living selection with green bean soups, carrots soups etc. I gave this one a 9/10.

  4. Cully & Sully Soup. This is a treat soup. It was gorgeous and by far the best soup I tasted but it is more expensive and only really enough for one lunch…well I would suggest anyway. The chicken and vegetables were so tasty in this one and there were lovely big chunks of chicken! Cully & Sully seem like a great brand – they clearly mark that the soup is gluten free! Bonus! I gave this one a 10/10. If you can spend an extra few pennies…treat yourself as after all it is nearly Christmas.
