Gluten Free Pasta is expensive so it’s always important to get the right one! So like every good half Italian girl…i decided it was my duty to try them all.

So here are my ratings:

7. Pasta: Tesco free from dried conchiglie pasta

Made from: Maize flour and rice flour.

Price: £1.14.

Served: I served this with pesto and cheese.

This was my least favourite pasta. I felt this was tough and chewier than usual          pasta and didn’t sit well in my stomach, feeling heavy. It also took longer to cook as well.  On a positive note though…it was only £1.14!!!!!!

6. Pasta: La Buona Vita Gluten Free Lasagna Sheets

Made from: Maize and rice flour.

Price: £2.00

This again was slightly heavier in my stomach however the sauce and cheese of the lasagna softened it when cooked thoroughly. I would do as they recommend and blanch the sheets in hot water before cooking…this tends to turn out a little better/softer.

5. Pasta: Morrisons Gluten Free Brown Rice Pasta

Made with: Brown Rice Flour

Price: £1.31.

Served: I served with bolognese sauce.

I was sceptical about brown rice flour pasta but this felt so light in my stomach after eating it. I loved it. Recommend this one for higher fibre content too!

4. Pasta: Morrisons Gluten Free Dino Pasta

Made from: Cornflour and Rice Flour

Price: £2.00

Served:  I served this with pesto pasta.

Who does not love dino pasta?! Enough said. I never thought they would do something this exciting for gluten free people! I loved it and it tasted so lovely with pesto. Great for kids too this one!!

3. Pasta: Waitrose Green Pea and Red Lentil Flour Pasta

Made with: Green Pea flour and Red Lentil flour.

Price: £1.99.

Served: Pesto for the green pea and bolognese for the red lentil pasta. Both topped with   cheese.

This pasta is delicious. Red lentil was a clear winner for me between the two of them however they were both great! I did however find that you need to be gentle with this pasta as it can break easier than any other pasta so make sure you put a lot of cheese on top or make it into a pasta bake to stick it together a little more. Again this one is a source of fibre and high in protein.

2. Pasta: Farmo Spaghetti bought in Carluccios

Made with: Corn and Rice

Price: £3.95.

Served: Pesto.

This pasta is lovely and is the same pasta served in the shop! I love this as it is always so easy to get the spaghetti “to taste” and tastes almost like the real deal!

1. My favourite Pasta: Barilla Senza Glutine Stelline

Made with:White and Yellow cornflour mixed with rice flour.

Price: 2 euros.

Served: See my other posts 😉

This is my favourite pasta. Barilla gluten free is the real deal! I can’t seem to find this anywhere in the UK which is such a shame but I will certainly be stocking up when I am next in Italy. The pasta was so light and airy and sat in my stomach just right. I really recommend this pasta!!
