First of all I have to tell you that there is one risotto which I tried which does not feature in the above slideshow: the mushroom risotto. The reason for this is very simple. I was so hungry and eager to try it I forgot to take a picture!
The mushroom risotto is actually where my journey with Watmuff and Beckett started…I was on a Euro star train returning from a beautiful day in Paris (where I could not find something to eat all afternoon…the only downside to my otherwise lovely trip!) and this risotto literally saved my hunger crisis. I absolutely fell in love with it – it tasted so creamy and full of wild mushrooms! Loved it!
I then went on to try some of their other products (not on the same day obviously…although I really would). MMMMMMM.
First I tried the spiced pancetta and red pepper risotto. This has to be my favourite product so far. The flavours are amazing and they give you a tiny packet of seeds to sprinkle atop your risotto too! Just like homemade and the pancetta was such a nice addition to a risotto that I would not have thought of before.
I also tried the soups and I have to say I thought my favourite would be the minestrone but it was actually the sweet potato, carrot and ginger One word: delicious. I don’t usually like ginger so I was pleasantly surprised that this was my favourite but it had such a nice kick to it that I really enjoyed it!
The other soups were great. I tried the pea and mint, minestrone and thai carrot and sweet potato. Every soup was a brilliant concoction of flavours! The stock used was amazing and so flavoursome! It also really filled me up and I had half a pot at work over two lunches. I had some very envious looks in the kitchen!! I also loved how they offer gluten and wheat free minestrone. This is the first gluten free minestrone I have tried since I found out I was allergic and I will 100% be buying it again.
I thoroughly enjoyed these risottos and soups and will be stocking up for my lunches! Perfect for a quick lunch at home, school or work! Reasonably priced too. I really want to try their Greek olive risotto! It sounds absolutely delicious and is next on my list.
Where can I find these soups and risottos in Devon? I am helpfully informed that you can find these in Asda, Ocado and Tesco. I think Ocado may also have a deal on at the moment so go go go…
