Today I visited Gulliver’s in Exeter despite the battle to get up the hill in the snowy sludge. It was good to get into a cafe and get warm again! I was invited in to try their new gluten free brownies – which have just been added to the menu. Gluten free brownies are always exciting!! I thought whilst I was there it would be rude not to have lunch. The jacket potato with tuna was a good choice and my boyfriend had a toasted sandwich – which they also offer as gluten free.
They told me that they put parchment paper on the grill and use separate pans for the gf brownies to prevent cross contamination but as always be sure to explain your dietary requirements. Better to be safe!
The homemade gluten free brownie topped with cream was their first gluten free dessert so far. It was delicious and the cream really was a great touch to make the texture creamier. For someone with a sweet tooth, this really was a treat! I can’t wait to see them expand their gluten free options! I would personally like to see more chocolate options (I love chocolate, have I mentioned that before?), a coffee cake and a Victoria sponge.
Exeter really is growing in gluten free options and this homemade brownie from Gulliver’s is a great start. My boyfriend also loved it (sharing mine – both scrambling for the last bit) and he isn’t even gluten free.
Thank you Charlotte of Gulliver’s for being so welcoming.
