When Finn Kelly wrote to Rockfish to ask for some answer some questions for his school holiday project he didn’t expect to receive a personal invitation to meet owner Mitch Tonks in person. But that is exactly what happened.
Finn’s holiday homework was to write about his favourite place in Devon, and that turns out to be Rockfish. The 11 year old wrote a series of questions out and dad James emailed them them to ask if Rockfish could help with answers. Two days later and Finn was sat in front of Mitch asking the questions himself.
Finn asked the founder and CEO of Rockfish, “What gave you the idea for the Ocean Protector kid’s packs” and “Do you still cook?”.
Mitch said, “Finn was brilliant, huge energy and personality. Life is so busy and sometimes it is great to be able to slow down and find time to do something like this and in the process exceed someone’s expectations! I really enjoyed meeting Finn, and his dad James, and great to be able to help with the homework!”
James Kelly, Finn’s dad, said “We were bowled over that Mitch would take the time to personally help Finn with his school project. Getting the chance to ask his questions directly has really inspired him”.
Finn wanted to add “I loved getting to meet Mitch to ask my questions, he was very generous and really nice. I particularly like my Rockfish cookbook!”
After interviewing Mitch, operations director of Rockfish, Ed Fevyer, took some time with Finn and showed him the guide to local fish that all of the staff have a copy and Finn took away that with a signed copy of one of Mitch’s books, a pair of Rockfish sunglasses and a Rockfish pen. Finn has done a presentation to take back to school next week.
The Kelly family moved to Devon from London a year ago and are settling into life by the coast and loving it.
